Hello again. It is THAT time of year again, when sea is covered with ice and only good way to exploit this, is to organize :

Estonian SaabClub Winter Rally 2013

Time: 9-10 February 2013
Rest of it is exactly as 2 years ago.

Location: Western Estonia, Haapsalu

Housing: Hotel Promenaad, http://www.promenaadi.ee/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Mostly twin rooms, special requests – ask from organizers.

On site:
Restaurant with hall, where you can order yourself, Sauna

Available:
Petrolhead special – HAAPSALU WINTER RALLY – see map. Soup, hot drinks and breakfast
Winter rally on ice – sport event, registration on site, practice laps everyone can check their car handling on ice track.

Suitable for all cars and will be held according to weather conditions, possible limitation on weight, driving on own responsibility!
Competition is organized by MTÜ Eesti Saabiklubi, it will be closed event for event participants only.

Prizes for SAAB’s only!

NB! If ice is not strong enough, something on land will be organized.

What to bring:

Excellent mood, small snack for yourself and your friend, drinks for yourself, sauna stuff, spade, rope and full tank of petrol!

10:00 Arrivals, check-in
10:30 Sign up for rally, instructions
11:00 free practice, for everyone, not only rally participants, but others not so brave aswell
13-14:00 Start of rally, timed laps
17:00 End of rally
18:00 Start of evening events, Soup etc
20:00 Prize ceremony
21:00 Sauna
03:00 good night (of course, if you are still in middle of peace talks of Middle-East, you can continue, but quietly)

08:00-10:30 Breakfast
11:30 check-out

Completely unrelated video... just to make your juices flowing...
One long track in southern Estonia. (Youtube). Goes along the river and if you look at the timestamps on video, you can imagine how long it is... Speeds can go way over 100 (even 180+ is mentioned, but I doubt that part...). I guess if you go near water with car in Latvia, you get already penalty??

P.S. Cyber, we can also drive on frozen lakes, if the temperature has been appropriate for a while

Ah, then it is better now? I somehow remember something about total ban of going on the water with the car...

And seems to be, that track conf has changed significantly for now. It might be ~4 km. Valdo had a weekend competition there.

It depends, first, on the owner (holder) of the lake and the land nearby (i can do whatever I want on my lake/land), second, on the way to access the lake, for instance, it is not allowed to cross the sand-dunes by car or to drive on the beach...

Some questions as to the event: 1) what time does it start on Saturday (I mean, when we have to arrive)? 2) is there any agenda on Sunday?

Schedule is not clear yet. But it will definitely not be very early... I think starting noon-ish... arrivals ~10-11

For Sunday... wake up, eat, scratch ... something, go home... No special plans. If weather is OK, I think you can go back to track, if you want some more.. But I do not know right now, will there be some event or just open for public. Last month or so, there has been event on every Sunday.
